Firefox 2.0 Final

It has been released, but Mozilla has yet to update the main page of the release.

FTP: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0

We're aware

It's been on Digg, so everyone is aware. But it isn't officially released until tomorrow afternoon.

And you didn't need to post this twice.

Longer

It usually doesn't hit autoupdate for a while after release. And then in waves by language.

John will...

Release it when it is done, and not before, it was not necessary for this post to be added in.

So please let end this "IT IS OUT" stuff!

I never said...

it was intended for me, but I know that John gets the official info statments from Mozilla, so there is no reason why anyone should be posting any links to firefox at all. This site is dedicated to firefox portable as well as other apps, but not firefox itself. These statements should be place on places like Digg or Mozilla forums themselves.

I believe that when John has the new release of firefox PORTABLE he will tell us and release it. No amount of pointing out links, making statements, or telling anyone that 2.0 or any new version is ready will make it move faster.

I am not directing my commetns to you, but toward the whole community as it is and as it will become. Saying these things when john has repeatedly stated this is not needed and he will know when it is officially out, is like telling him to get it done now, not later, but now. I personaly don't want to see John shut the site down or this forum because of too many people saying things in this manor, even if they didn't mean it. I mean you can only take so much and say so many times.

This is just my two cents, no need to start a flame war, just take it as a statement of a fact that I see, period. Nothing more than that.

Thanks Deuce

for your comments on this. I dont know what others might think about this, but it seems to me that John is a bit more agresive than before in his replies. I think this is due to the fact that a lot of people are doing exactly what you just discribed "John, work harder, faster, fix your server and site, and forget about your real job, so that we can get your programs for FREE". That is the key word here, FREE. John is doing this because he wants to, because he fells the need to do it, and not because he's making a profit from it.

This also goes out to the whole PA community, lets try to do the follwing:
1. PLEASE don't ask when a new version is comming out, and
2. PLEASE search before posting. Not just once, but 2 or 3 times with diferent keywords.

And to you John, on behalf of all the people who have made their lifes easier with these programs, we thank you.

Just as a side note, reladed to #2, its funny that people are actally fighting over who gets to say "please search before posting" see here and here.

Teen2: Are you being sarcastic, dude?

Ditto that

and as for the fighting over who replies with search first, when you have been around as long as some of us then you start to go slightly mad. Smile With regards to time, how many of you can say that you were around PFF (as it was then) before this site (i.e. on Mozillazine) I can!

Yours

I agree.
I remember when no one would reply at all until someone resurrected the topic.

Can I DL the portable RC3

Can I DL the portable RC3 and simply copy it over my App folder? I only ask because I use an old launcher (1.2.1.1).

Yes

That's what in-place upgrade means. All apps support this.

Checksums are

Checksums are different:
e71873d92b4d9f6534eea9ec7451afae = RC3
8cd758262290a41a6ea7c047681eeabf = 2.0

Not that it makes any difference, it'll still work.
