Hey guys. I use Firefox Portable for school work, so I have it on a flash drive and do a lot of things like save bookmarks on it. However, when I bring it home I cannot seem to get it to run properly. Instead it starts up a normal firefox session with the bookmarks and homepage my normal firefox has. How do I fix this?
I wonder if the school computer is configured in such a way that it won't save anything on a flash drive (but then, you won't be able to save documents either).
Otherwise, it should work and indeed it DOES work as I precisely use this configuration to get the same bookmarks at home and at the office (and the same mail with Thunderbird).
At home, make sure you haven't started the regular (desktop) Firefox. For example, don't click on an e-mail link when Firefox isn't started, as it will start the desktop version of Firefox first. Then, when you click on the PortableApps one, it simply opens a new window... So the only way to make sure you start Firefox Portable is to start it manually from the PortableApps plaform when no desktop version is running.
I would recommend you customize slightly Firefox portable (ex.: special theme) so you will quickly see that you indeed have opened the portable edition of Firefox.
