Sponsor or Donation?

I donated $160 (100 UKP) two days ago. Didn't notice the difference between Sponsor and donor. It would be nice to see my name in lights for three months (only kidding!). Nevertheless, a "thank you" email would have hit the mark.

Graham Goater, Cambridge, UK (if you are trying to locate it on PayPal John).

Thanks,
GrahamG

Working On It

Sponsors get their name in the platform. Donors do not.

We're working on being able to send out thank you notes more easily, but it's an entirely manual process and PayPal stopped sending out confirmation emails that we could easily track, so we need to manually go through every donation in the PayPal online interface and then email from that. It's a ton of manual time and if we're doing that, we're not developing. Our communications person is down for the count with a cold this week but will likely begin catching up on the backlog later.

Thanks for the Update...

John,

I've paid my dues for using PortableApps software over the years with the donation made. I'll continue using PortableApps for 'utility' purposes. I hope that most users of PA are putting their money where their mouths (or typing fingers) are when it comes to offering tangible support for the site / platform.

Whilst I understand the logistics of not being able to say 'thank you' to every PayPal donation you receive, I think you missed the opportunity to say 'thank you' in your post. Sorry mate, but your attitude came across as arrogant and patronising.

If one thing can be said of the guys running the "illegal French site", they were bloody polite.

Sorry About That

Hi Graham,

My apologies if my post sounded off here, it certainly wasn't meant to be. It was a quick response in a series of others when I first woke up that morning to respond to your questions (just going through the 'queue' of forum posts that needed answers). I thought a thank you in conjunction would sound insincere at the time Sad But, I was wrong. Your donation is VERY much appreciated. Moreso than you'd guess, to be honest. We're setting up a queue to send out thank yous for donations over the last several months via email now (now that we figured out how to get email addresses from PayPal without clicking on them all).

If you'd like to switch from a simple donation to a platform sponsor, I'd be happy to assist with that. Or if you feel your donation was not appreciated, I can refund it as well.

Sincerely,
John

I'll take the offer of a refund...

John,

I appreciate the offer to refund the donation, an offer which I'll accept. For me it just left a bad feeling. The refund will probably go to another good home - LinuxMint.

Hopefully you can tie up my details with the donation made via PayPal, but if you need them, please let me know how to contact you.

Refunded

The refund has been issued as requested. I hope you will reconsider assisting us in the future.
