mozilla thunderbird constant problem

this bug has been driving me crazy for a while now. I am running windows 7 64 bit on my machine. When windows is up and running I start portable apps and the first time I run mozilla thunderbird it starts up with no problem. When I exit it and then try to restart it, the system processes shows it running but I can't get to it, I can't access the graphical interface. If I click on it again to start it, it appears there are multiple instances of it running but I can't get to any of the processes. I can kill of of them manually except 1 instance, and i have to reboot to fix the problem. Logging off and trying it again does not work.

Does anyone else have this problem? PLEASE HELP.
