Skype: Profile time displayed incorrectly when changing Windows 7 time zone

Hi Everyone,

I travel frequently and change the time zone within Windows 7 on my laptop. I have had a complaint that my time displayed to other Skype users is incorrect. It seems to always display a time of West-Coast USA even though the Windows 7 time zone is set to the East-Coast or Europe.

Note, I believe that my time is only shown incorrectly with the portable version of Skype (www.portableapps.com).

There have been some people out there complaining about it ... I think it is easily reproducible. Let's see what y'all say.

Do the following on Windows 7:

- Download Portable Skype (www.portableapps.com). Logon to your account. Have your neighbor check your time displayed in your profile. It should be correct.
- Now use windows and perform "change date and time settings". Change the time-zone. Have your neighbor logoff of Skype and logon. Regardless of which time zone you choose your friends see you as if your time were West-Coast, USA.
- Go to your skype profile and switch the time zone back and forth. Leave it finally as "My computer's". Now your friends will see your profile with the correct time displayed; the same time as your computer. Incidentally this is the only way I have found to correct the incorrectly displayed time.
- Finally change your computer's time zone once again. And like magic, your profile is displayed to your neighbor as West-Coast USA (have your neighbor logoff of Skype and logon).

It seems to always display my profile time to other users as West-Coast USA even though the Windows 7 time zone is set to the East-Coast or Europe.
It would not bother me if my time were displayed incorrectly for a day, but it is incorrect indefinitely.

Can anyone reproduce this?
Can anyone solve it?
