[Closed] PA platform doesn't update apps with custom folder names.

Hi.

I've noticed the following bug.
When installing an app, it gives you an option to give a custom name to destination folder. I gave "FirefoxPortable" the name of "[INTERNET]FirefoxPortable", and gave the [INTERNET] prefix to all the apps that go under Internet category. I gave other prefixes to other apps to keep them organised and easier to find also when accessing them from a file browser without neeeding to start the PA platform (which takes to long to load all the apps from my USB stick).

Everything works fine, the apps show in the menu, they start and so on... just the "Check For Updates" function refuses to update them!
I guess it is a bug. Anybody willing to inspect?

By Design

Only apps within the unaltered AppID directories will be updated. This allows users to save specific versions of apps if they so desire (FirefoxPortableOld, for example).

There's no need to alter the directory names as you can rename and categorize within the menu and there's generally no need to browse into the PortableApps directory anyway, so there's not much reason to 'organize' it. You can right click on any app and 'Explore Here' right in the menu. And we're adding an 'Open Command Prompt Here' shortly, too.

And we'll be adding automated app icon and info caching to the platform to speed up start and refresh speed in the next release as well.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I was doing this, because

I was doing this, because with all the apps I have PA platform took to long to load. If you are going to add automated app icon and info caching, that would solve the problem.

Thanks for the explanation.
