* dumb question* Is dune 2000 Abandonware?

(Wasn’t sure where this should go so...)

* Dumb question* is dune 2000 Abandonware?

I think it is so, but just to be sure I am asking. I have already done some googleing and looked around wiki and various sites but have came back with results that have left me even more confused. The reason why I ask such a dumb question is to make sure I am legally able to share this great game with others and possibly in due time as my knowledge of programming expands try to breath new life into it.

If I can get a straight forward answer, it would be great help to me.

Ps: Please excuse any typos

Can't answer whether Dune

Can't answer whether Dune 2000 is abandonware or not, but I can say this: just because a program is classified as so-called abandonware does not mean it is legal to distribute it.

I believe there is a community remake/port of Dune 2000 (OpenD2K or something like that) which may or may not be be under an open source license and may or may not be regularly updated (saw the name in passing on a quick search for Dune2000's license).
