The version of this file is not compatible with ... Windows ... and Portableappsplatform.exe not a valid...

I have been unable to get Portable Apps to work more than once. I install it on a flash drive (3 different ones so far) and everything works fine until I eject it and plug it back in. Then I either get "The Portableappsplatform.exe is not a valid Portableapps program" or "the version of this file is not compatiable with the version of Windows you're running. Check to see if you need an x86(32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version...

I was using this on several flash drives until the latest version of PortableApps was released. Now I can't install it and move to another computer and expect it to run without errors.

I have tried on Win7 and WinXP to no avail.

Bad Drive

This usually means either a failing drive or a malware infection. Be sure to fully scan your PC and then try installing it locally (just to your desktop is fine) to ensure it runs properly.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Bad Drive - Right

Ran Malwarebytes and found nothing. No Viruses. Reformated flash drive and it would work when loaded but eject and re-plug and would error. Reformated as NTFS, same problem. Ran CHKDSK against the flash drive and got no problems. Finally started getting an error. Reformated as FAT and it has been working ever since. I suspect a small part of the drive won't hold memory and the 32K blocks under FAT skips that part of the drive. I'll have to go back to the other two drives I tried and see if the FAT trick works there too. I have 100 of them.
