Help after use portable app creator 0.99 and now ?

Portable Apps Creator never actually produced properly portable apps. All the 'analysis' tools that claim to monitor installs and automatically figure out how to package an app produce extremely flawed apps. And none of them have ever made it to release stage.

The best way to do it is manually. You use a utility like Regshot to compare a system before and after you run an app to determine where it saves settings (APPDATA and/or registry) for apps where we need to backup and restore settings. Read the manual/FAQ of the app to determine if there is a command line switch or environment variable that app will use to locate settings (a FAR better way of making an app portable and something the analysis tools never user).

Then you use that information to make the app starting with the Portable Application Template (basic directory structure and help/readme), adding in the icons, adding in the appinfo.ini with the app's details, adding in the AppNamePortable.ini with the details on how it is made portable, then compiling the launcher and the installer.

Sadly, we don't currently have a solidly written how-to on this process. So, it's often best to start with an existing app and learn about how it works, using the PA.c Launcher manual as a lookup guide for each term.
