I am eager for the new file associations feature.
There have have been several portable apps [or semi-portable] to handle file associations. Nearly all of them only handle the default [double-click] association.
I am hoping v12 is taking after 'PortableFileAssociator 2.2.1.8', as double-click alone won't help me.
So can anyone know the details on v12's file associations?
It's true associations handled in user-space (so no admin rights required). It handles associations from any app, not just detecting double-clicks in Explorer ala eXpresso/CAFE. It handles both files and protocols (torrent, etc). It works both automatically (all apps advertise the files they can handle to the platform) and manually. And it gives you control over what you want to happen by asking and letting you choose to remember your selections or ask again later.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Where are the file association settings on the Platform 12 Beta 2 ?
The file associations have not debuted yet, but are anticipated soon.
This never happened?
It's possible. Unfortunately, Windows 8 changed the way things work, so we can't just temporarily switch things to automatically work back and forth. So, it would work on Windows XP/Vista/7 but not on Windows 8/8.1/10. As you know, Windows 10 comes out in a month and is a free and automatic upgrade for all Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 users. We may release it as is just so people can use it who'd like to.

The upgrade to W10 is free but optional for those earlier versions. I have some systems that I'll wait a while before installing W10 because I need stability. I'd love it if you released what you've got so we could take advantage of it now & then your work on it wouldn't go to waste either!
