Taskbar icon to Notification area

When I launch PortableApps the icon appears in the taskbar. In previous versions I was able to have it in the notification area instead. Can that be done in the current version?

Thanks,
Don

Try this

If you're using Windows Vista or above, there may be a little up arrow (or left arrow) on the leftmost side of the system tray. Click that to reveal the hidden icons. In Windows 7 and 8 (at least), you can then drag the icon to the active area to have it show all the time.

Also, to answer the original question, showing it in the tray is default, and I've read that a future release will put the ability to show or hide the taskbar icon (but not system tray icon) right in the Options menu.

simple, see here

It's easy to disable the Taskbar icon. It'll be even easier once the option is added to the options screen. See here:

Not able to test at present,

Not able to test at present, but try it with the Windows 7 method described above.

I can't honestly see the method being much different, if at all in how the tray icon is created.

If at first you do not succeed, use more sticky tape.

I've testet the Windows 7

I've testet the Windows 7 method with "Windows8TaskbarIcon=false".

It does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you try using the line

Did you try using the line "Windows7TaskbarIcon=false" under display options? I think the generic name for the icon is "Windows7TaskbarIcon" even for Windows 8 (since the desktop of 8 is based on 7).

Windows7TaskbarIcon

The correct line is Windows7TaskbarIcon=false. It affects Windows 7 and up.

Wrong Place

You likely entered it in the wrong location. It must be within the [DisplayOptions] section, not at the end. It works without issue on all versions of Windows except the uber-buggy early Windows 8 release.
