Sunbird: SBP consuming too much CPU

Greetings to all,

I just started to use Sunbird Portable but I have a problem when I start the program. The first time I run the ".exe" the splash screen appears for a long time, and then the sunbird process starts but no Sunbird window appears, I have to execute it another time and then it works perfectly. The problem is that the first process consum a lot of CPU (98%) which makes mi laptop fan goes crazy. Also, when I close the window of the Sunbird that first process is still running (consuming the same amount of CPU), so I always have to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to acces the process control window and terminate it manually. I have to do this every time I check my calendar (which is several times a day), and that huge amount of CPU used makes almost impossible to run other applications in a smooth way while using Sunbird.

I have a HP laptop (ze4940ea) with a centrino CPU and Windows XP home ed. SBP is being ran from a external hard disc (lacie) with a USB 2.0 conexion.

Thanks for any advise on this subject, Sunbird portable is an amazing program.

Best wishes.

yes, but

I have the same problem with the 0.2 version. Can't give you a solution to the problem, but you can terminate the portablesunbird.exe once the sunbird.exe has started. The program then runs without problem and CPU consumption. It's not a great thing but works for me. Smile

Thanks

Hi Daisy,

Thanks for your hint, didn't tried to terminate that process while SBP was running because I was afraid that could spoil the function of SBP. At least, I will be able now to run other programs at the same time without hearing the laptop fan all the time Wink

See you.
