Hi guys!
First of all: Enjoy deleting this post I do not mind. And I still thank you for the work you made.
When I saw Portable APPs manager first I told myself: WOW! After using it I found AWKWARD behaviours, features and points which could be improved. I mean improved with small effort with big result value.
AWKWARD THINGS:
- I DO NOT UNDERSTAND PURPOSE OF BAR WHICH SAYS ABOUT CAPACITY OF DRIVE. WHICH IS OK, BUT: There is possible to write? Write what? And what for? Suddenly Portable APPs says that (probably disk label) is TEST, Window says it is QUESTION and when I look at disk label it is DUSAN_D.
WHAT A MESS.
- Hidden button at top right corner. Why it is HIDDEN?
- Not convinient way for searching apps: it should be possible to start for as low count of clicks as possible. It is not. Space which is normally intended for searching is occupied by some STRANGE functionality.
- how do I download only certain IMPORTANT updates? E.g.: antivirus? NOT POSSIBLE
- downloading and managing apps is hard
- running apps at single click? confusing!
- why there are buttons eject and close? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
And many many more comments which is no one willing to heard.
It would take time to write down all comments and make it clearly explaining purpose. And I will not do that. Because I see that it is waste of time. My time. You have your own opinions. Ok. I will get use to it the way it is.
It is a big pitty when you did something great as collection of portable apps and manager is full of things which could make it's use not convenient even STANDART...
Regards
Dusan
"Eject" ejects the drive the platform is run from (usually a USB drive).
PS: No one will delete this post. We all hope you stay here and keep using PortableApps!
Feel free to ask all the other questions you may have.

It works fine here. I don't completely understand the problem/question about writing, mostly because the excessive use of capital letters.
- Hidden button at top right corner. Why it is HIDDEN?
I suppose you're pointing at the user icon, in the past users could select a icon they liked and it would be displayed there. There were some issues with it, I don't know what happened to it, or when it'll be back.

Space ain't normally intended for searching, otherwise: how would you type spaces??? The Platform uses the "/" key to quick search, like e.g. Firefox and I think Vim or Emacs does, not sure about the last one...
- how do I download only certain IMPORTANT updates? E.g.: antivirus? NOT POSSIBLE
It should be coming up in a next beta...
- downloading and managing apps is hard
How would you make it better?
- running apps at single click? confusing!
This has already been mentioned, there could come an option, don't know what happened to that proposal.
- why there are buttons eject and close? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
Close: closes the platform. Eject: ejects the external hard drive/usb stick.
Most things I answered out the top of my head, if you want concrete topics about these questions, use the search function.
Edit: Simeon beat me to it :/
Yes, I set the working directory!
The area for the size of the drive is there because a large percentage of people need that information since they run it on smaller flash drives. This area also shows the name of your flash drive determined by your autorun.inf file. You can rename the drive by clicking this area. It will rename within the autorun.inf which allows longer names and mixed case on FAT32 drive, but may not show up in an Explorer window until you eject and reinsert or reboot.
The 'hidden button' in the upper right is where your personal picture goes, like on the Windows start menu. Click it to select a 48px PNG, BMP, or JPG file to place there. It's a simple way of personalizing the menu a bit.
You can search by clicking the / key or hitting F3. Both are the standard search keys in nearly all Windows software. / is more convenient as it is close to the rest of the keys. That's why Firefox and other apps use it. The space key isn't used for search in any software I've ever seen. We used to allow searching just by typing, but this interfered with many international keyboard layouts, so we had to remove it temporarily. So, the search bar will be always visible and have focus by default in an upcoming release. The area around search is also a 'grabbable' area (since we don't have a title bar) so you can click and drag to move the menu to another location of the screen. That's why your mouse pointer changes when you are over it.
You can check and uncheck any apps you want to specifically update whatever software you want. Most users want to update all their software all the time. And different users have their own ideas of what is important. For us to decide what is important would be a bit presumptuous.
How is downloading and managing apps hard? Updating and installing use the same interface where you simply check an app off to get it. Managing apps, like categories or renaming or uninstalling, is a simple right-click on the app itself in the menu. Not sure what you mean. Did you have a specific suggestion or question about the process?
Apps are supposed to be run from a single click. This is exactly like the Windows start menu and every other Windows menu. Double-clicking in a menu would violate pretty much every usability guideline and be confusing for users. In Windows, the only things you double-click are icons on the desktop or in an explorer Window, and even there you can set them to single click.
Eject is to close the menu and eject the drive. Close just closes the menu without ejecting. Lots of folks use the PA.c Platform from a drive they also keep files for local use on, etc. These two buttons will be customizable in an upcoming release with additional options.
Not sure why you seem a tad defensive or think we'd delete your post. That's not our style. The only things prohibited in this forum are discussion of illegal software, spamming or abusive behavior.
