Hello all,
Chrome Portable version: 24.0.1312.57
Problem: Chrome Portable will not start anymore
Env: Dell Latitude i7, 8Gb, SSD running Win 7 enterprise, fully patched. Chrome located in a portableapps folder on the C: drive along with other portable apps.
I have been using portableapps.com stuff for years now and Chrome Portable almost as long. About a month ago, it simply would not load, either from the pa starter menu or by directly clicking it.
Running as admin does not help either.
I have since loaded a couple of updates (to no avail) and also deleted all traces of Chrome on my machine and reinstalled - again to no effect.
I've also tried to start it in safe mode but no go there either.
I've had to resort to Firefox untill I can get this back up and running again (not a massive hardship but not ideal).
Other portableapps are still running fine.
Any idea what I should try next?
Cheers!

Folks,
Is my question on the correct forum? Just in case this is the reason for no responses yet.
Thanks!

Try deleting the GoogleChromePortable\Data directory.
Thanks for the response.
I deleted the GoogleChromePortable\Data directory then attempted to run the exe. This changed the cursor momentarily, re-created a data folder and pretty much nothing else.
Of course, I had deleted everything and started fresh previously anyway.
Cheers.

A couple questions for you:
a) what is the full path you have Chrome installed to?
b) how long are you waiting for chrome to load? It doesn't load instantly, it usually takes a few seconds.
c) when you run GoogleChromePortable.exe, do both GoogleChromePortable.exe and chrome.exe show up in task manager.
d) Are you attempting this in a corporate or school environment?
Thanks Gord. Answers are:
a) C:\jul103\My PortableApps\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable
b) Any amount of time. Chrome does not load after minutes or hours.
c) GoogleChrome Portable shows up for about 1 second in task manager then disappears.
d) My laptop is a corporate laptop but not connected to corporate network. I do have admin permissions on the machine.
Regards.
