I am not making this up. I tried to install the Flash plug-in following the directions here https://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#plugins. As soon as the thing finishes downloading, it disappears from the Extensions window! Now what?

This is normal. Flash is installed, but it doesn't show itself as an extension. Go to a flash-enabled site.
