It is removed on exit as of yesterday's release (earlier versions of 3.3.0 would leave it behind). I have confirmed this on a clean Windows XP machine. Or is that not what you are seeing? If so, what OS are you on, install path, new install or upgrade, etc?

uTorrent added it to HKCU now as well as HKLM to allow for non-admin Windows installs. The uTorrentPortable.ini within App\AppInfo\Launcher needs a single line added:
Hello, form your this post I locate the utorrent file under regedit file section. But the problem is Utorrent is uninstall from my pc but hte folder is still present. the "Unistall String" says the file installs in ""\uTorrent.exe" /UNINSTALL". can u plz guide me on how to completely remove Utorrent from my pc. there are 2 versions installs in pc and now I can't even add a torrent file. thanks
This is unrelated. If you set uTorrent to start on bootup, it will start in non-portable mode. That's why this feature is disabled by default. Never set individual apps to start with Windows or associated them with files directly.

It's still unrelated to this bug which is only about a single registry entry that uTorrent auto-added (no prompt to install or anything) but is now handled.
Please create a new post with the details on the issue you see, the full path you have uTorrent Portable installed to, the version of uTorrent Portable, the version of Windows, and any other additional details in the Other Apps Support Forum and we'll try and track down what's up.

via the applications options, however adding uTorrentPortable.exe to Windows Startup Folder (or what every folder/method Win 7 and Win 8 use) should cause it to run portably. (Unless Windows treats any program launched via the Startup Folder in a way that treats them as locally installed programs?)
One problem I can see with this idea is, if someone sets up a portableapps program to launch via the Startup Folder, it is quite likely they'd forget to shut them down before shutting down their computer and the next time they boot their computer and those programs launch they will (quite correctly) get 'did not shut down properly' messages.

Thanks for confirming.

The latest version of uTorrent have the Add/Remove Programs entry again.
Here is the registry entry for it.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\uTorrent
Win7 x64 SP1
uTorrent added it to HKCU now as well as HKLM to allow for non-admin Windows installs. The uTorrentPortable.ini within App\AppInfo\Launcher needs a single line added:
-=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\uTorrent
It can be placed after the similar -=HKLM line. I'll have a revised version out after returning to NYC.

But how do I remove it remove it from the add/remove programs now that it is there?
you can do it via regedit. if you're unfamiliar i can put together a reg file for you.

PS: looking for positive response on asap basis.
I have the same problem too: https://portableapps.com/node/37877
The HKCU key (in addition to the HKLM one that was fixed earlier) is now fixed in µTorrent Portable 3.3.1.30017 Rev 2.

Never set it or any portable application to start at bootup.
