I have a folder on my C:\ drive called "Program Files (portable)" where I keep all my portable apps.
I just downloaded the latest GIMP portable, and when i try to run it, i get this error message:
GIMP Portable cannot be run from inside C:\Program Files. This location is for standard local software only. Please use this application from another location.
Program Files and sub directories is specifically restricted for the reasons outlined here:

Unfortunately, there was a bug in the PortableApps.com Installer prior to 3.0.4 where it would treat C:\Program FilesANDSOMETHINGELSE as a subdirectory. The fix is mentioned here:

Your best bet is to use C:\PortableApps or similar. Everything will work from it and all the installers will find it automatically.

Okay.
Thank you very much!
I just downloaded fre:ac Portable v1.0.23 (Date updated: 2014-12-02) and put it on
:/Program Files - portable/freacPortable
When trying to run, I get the warning "[...] This location is for standard local software only [...]". But I'm not using "Program Files" - I'm using "Program Files - portable".
I thought the bug was fixed???
Or was fre:ac packaged with an old version?
Please fix. Thanks.
It specifically excludes:
%PROGRAMFILES%\
%PROGRAMFILES64%\
It doesn't exclude anything else. I just ran the fre:ac Portable v1.0.23 installer and installed to C:\Program Files - portable\freacPortable without a problem.
