Chrome Portable 25.0.1364.97 Stable infinitely loading, stuck at white screen, (no settings page)

I am using Chrome Portable 25.0.1364.97 Stable version.

As soon as the app launches, it gets stuck on a white page. Doesn't even load the startup page. I know it's trying to load something as the refresh button is changed to a stop button, but there is no activity in lower left corner. Doesn't even open any chrome setting page.

At first I thought that the network administrator might be blocking the access, but I downloaded the latest Firefox Portable and it works seamlessly.

Can anybody help me resolve the issue. I am newbie so sorry if I missed something that was implied in setting up the browser.

Update: The Portable Apps folder is not in any Program Files, it's on My Desktop and the machines are running Windows 7

this also happens to me with

this also happens to me with the most up to date versions of Chrome and Iron.

I use them on a personal network drive made available via Citrix Metaframe. I can install and use portable Firefox but not portable Chrome or Iron.

Anyone have any advice?

Unsupported

Chrome and Chrome-based browsers have never been supported on network drives. Even if you map a drive letter. These are limitations of the app itself.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Re: Unsupported

it's not the network drives support, it's a long standing ongoing issue with chrome! which still doesn't seem to have a definite solution.

i've been having this problem on all versions of chrome, and chromium portable. only a reboot fixes it!

this annoying bug is still open
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=47211

what works for me is deleting the chrome*.pf files from
C:\Windows\Prefetch

and removing the id folders in
C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application

good luck
