I have created a "Portable App" that will create Windows Shortcuts in a manner that mirrors the menu layout and installs them in a "Portable Apps" folder in your start menu. This App also includes an "Uninstall" routine that will delete the shortcuts. If anyone is interested you can grab it from https://dl.dropbox.com/u/681536/Shortcuts.zip
I can see that having potential where an application is "installed" on a fixed drive, for perhaps ease of backup or for multiple versions (particularly with browsers, like Firefox release, beta and nightly).
If at first you do not succeed, use more sticky tape.
Exactly what I was looking for, works like a charm, thank you!
EDIT: Just noticed one minor flaw - the shortcut to PortableApps.com platform and those to the three VBS files have a wrong icon
EDIT2: The icon issue can easily be fixed by placing a/the desired icon named appicon.ico to the corresponding subfolder App/AppInfo (and then re-run the VBScript to "install" the shortcuts)
Glad you found it useful too. I never considered adding an icon. Have any favorites you think I should use?
