Multiple instance is always possible?

Hi,

I would be happy if somebody can help me with:

1- If I have two copies of portable 7-zip. I can open two independed process for 7-Zip. As I test it they works properly. Is that 100% valid for all portableapps.com applications?

2- Is there any command parameter to start a portable application with different /Data directory. Example:
"D:\PortableApps\7zipPortable\7zip.exe -profile D:\Data2"

Thank you

Windows no Instances

You're opening two windows of 7-Zip, but it is the same instances of 7-Zip Portable with the same settings since it uses the registry.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I copy Opera to another

I copy Opera to another directory. I open Opera from second copy. I change some settings of it. I open the first copy of Opera (I did not close the Opera.exe from second copy), I see that it does not use the Data's of second one. So I can open two independed Opera process on the same session properly. Where both of them use two different /Data directories. But why you told me that 7zip can not do that. Am I doing something wrong? Sad

No

7-Zip stores ONE copy of settings in the registry across every session you start, even if you try and start multiple copies.

You mean that Opera supports

You mean that Opera supports multiple instance feature which 7zip can't? If Opera can do that as default what is "allowmultipleinstances" on ini file?

Is there any documentation about instance of portableapps?

Hmm I see... So you mean

Hmm I see... So you mean there is no feature (yet) to open multiple instances on the same operation system's session?

So what will happen if I open first 7zip and then switch another Windows user (by not closing the other) and than open 7zip again?
