Hi,
I have a problem with smart playlists in Songbird.
I can't create a smart playlist using the file path filter.
The playlist will be there, but the elements i use as filter (like "file path starts with 'I:\Documents\Music\albums'" or "file path contains 'Music\albums'") seam to be useless : files from other folders will be there...
I don't know whether this issue has something to do with using portable applications or whether it is a genuine SongBird bug.
Anyone having the same issue ?
For Smart Playlists, just have it use your regular library (which is portable) and then other options besides path-based filters. Since everything is already in your library, there's no need to filter on 'I:\Documents\Music\albums' or similar.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
My problem is that my library is in "i:\Documents\Music", which contains several folders like "albums", "compilations", "OST"
I want my smart playlist to keep only the songs under "albums", but i don't want to remove other folders from my SongBird library :/
For now, i added a "not_album" comment in the metada of all files contained in another folder than "albums", but it's just a workaround... and I have to add this keyword to any new song that doesn't belong to the "album" folder.
The best thing would be to be able to use the appropriate Songbird feature since it exists...
Up !
Anyone having any clue on this issue ?
You will have to use your workaround for the forseeable future. Songbird has no built-in methods to do partial paths for a Smart List and the launcher does not currently portablize them. I've made a note to look into this the next time Songbird is updated but I have lots of other things on my plate at present, so an out-of-band (aka between versions) update is not planned.

As a debugging measure, are you able to install the normal Songbird package to see if this happens there as well? If not, then the problem would indeed be on our end.
My friend Google finally told me this was a known bug in Songbird, reported in 2011 but still not fixed:
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show_bug.cgi?id=25000
Nothing to do except hoping the bug will be fixed in the next release...
In that case, I have closed this bug report as there's nothing we can do on our end.
