Hello,
First post and possible duplicate question.
I want to install Portable Apps on a 4tb External HDD - is that recommended (as opposed to a Thumb Drive)?
Two reasons: 1) I want access to a media player that handles FLAC files natively, and 2) would like the application and media files on ONE drive.
If possible to do this, are there any special considerations or install recommendations?
Many thanks in advance,
Rick
There is no limitation that portable apps can only be installed on thumb drives. People use them on external HDDs, local HDDs, thumbdrives and all devices that appear as a drive (mp3 players).
So no you should be ok installing it there.

+1 on what Simeon said.
For easiest use, install the platform to the root of the drive or partition. The platform will keep the rest straight. The platform will also keep the apps updated.
If you don't want to use the platform and only use the apps, then install them to X:/PortableApps/ as this is where the platform will put them, and all the installers will default to that location. It will save you from hassles if you install additional apps.
Edit: in case it wasn't clear, the app should go into X:/PortableApps/[appname]/
