I've posted a pre-release of ClamWin Portable 0.88.5 for testing. This updates ClamWin to the latest version and adds Vista compatibility for both the launcher and the setup routine.
ClamWin Portable 0.88.5 Pre-Release 1
Please give it a try and report back with the results.
Side Note: I compared a compressed version of ClamWin to an uncompressed one for speed in scanning and they performed about the same (the compressed one was maybe a few % faster). So, we're sticking with compressed binaries/JARs, saving us 65% in install size.
Seems fine on XP SP2. Already reporting that it's outdated though - apparently 0.88.6 is out soon! You'd think they'd wait for us to catch up wouldn't you!
Still wish that ClamWin would provide an on access scan, but the very fact that it is free outweighs that.
Thanks John, currently you are single-handedly looking after the whole portable market!

They posted that notice about it 9 days ago. So, I'm going ahead with 0.88.5. An update will be easy.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I'm running Windows XP SP2 and it works great.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
You just browse to it within the ClamWin interface. Expand each drive/directory until you find the file you want to scan.

Boy you are FAST,
I just posted that I had found it.
Should I delete my post or leave it for others?

Never Mind,
I found it. It is not intuitve that you can do this in ClamWin,
Glad you pointed it out, it will be very useful.
Thanks

Ran it in Vista. ClamWin had all kinds of errors while performing a scan, but I assume that is a ClamWin problem and has nothing to do with Portable ClamWin.
Can you give a couple samples (short ones)? I haven't tested it in Vista yet... I just updated the launcher and installer so it works in Vista without the account privs window.
UPDATE: I tried it out on Windows Vista RC2 and it worked without a hitch.

Is it possible in the Pre-R to tell CWP to EXCLUDE a Directory?
ClamWin is very through, there fore very slow.
I have a SubDirectory on my drive that only contains a lot of picture and movie files.
I know how to exclude a file type, is it possilbe to exclude a directory/folder.
So far the Pre-R is great

I installed it over the existing ClamWin. I did not find any errors or funnies during normal use on Windows XP Pro.

Paul
Ps. Thanks for all the hard work John!
