zip files no longer available for download

Hi,
I was just wondering if it still would be possible to have a zipped version of the portable applications available for Downloading.

I post this question because I'm a big fan of portable applications, and I created myself a small programm (downloading +launching).
I also have a website on the program. http://users.telenet.be/Robvdb/PortOffExec.htm

I also used to have some portable applications from this site; such as Portable Firefox, Portable Thunderbird, Portable AbiWord and OpenOffice.org Portable.

But I noticed today that the zip files are no longer available for downloading. Instead the download files are now xxxxx.paf.exe
and here is my problem, I use unzip.exe to have the zipped files extracted automatically, but I can't unzip those xxxx.paf.exe files.

So... It would be great to still have the zipped versions available for downloding...

thanks

Use 7-Zip

The exe is packed with 7z/lzma instead of zip/deflate. Use 7za.exe from 7-Zip (LGPL) instead of unzip.exe.

Not EXE File

I´m still missing the old Zip file format. I have some anti-virus system in my system the refuses this .exe to expand itself.

Is there any strong reason not to put the zip file anymore?

Maybe you should switch

Yikes. Maybe you should switch to a different anti-virus.

I like zip-Files

Hello,

I think, that every app should be downloadable as a zip-file. I am using Linux on my home computer and I want to unpack the applications for Windows computers I use sometimes :D. Why don't you only pack them into a zip-file? I can run the self-extracting archive using Wine, but that isn't a good solution.
Thank you very much for these great apps!

Greetings from Germany!

p7zip

If you don't mind using the command line, you can use p7zip to extract the files without wine. Other Linux 7z programs may or may not extract the file--I'm not sure.
