CoolPlayer+ & mounted MP3 player

CoolPlayer doesn't know how to handle Windows XP's path notation for media players.

I wanted to play some songs from my MP3 player on my computer speakers while I cleaned up the room. Plugged in MP3 player and it showed up in Explorer like it always does, down below the drive letters. In my case it is labeled "Sansa Express", right after Control Panel in the drive list. I started CoolPlayer, opened playlist (which was empty), clicked on "Add Dir" and navigated to the "Sansa Express\Internal Memory\Music" folder and clicked the "OK" button, to which CoolPlayer responded "Not a valid directory".

After trying a bunch of other directories, I come to the conclusion that CoolPlayer doesn't understand the path to a mounted media player. If I open the MP3 player in explorer, select an MP3 file, and drag it to CoolPlayer, it shows the slashed circle while the dragged file is over CoolPlayer.

I doubt if this is a PortableApps problem, probably an "upstream" problem, but it really ruined by evening. After spending an hour messing with what should have been a three-minute music start, I still have a messy room and I still don't have any music. Sad

Not a Real Path

MP3 players like this use MTP to handle showing up and, thus, are not a real Windows path. Windows explorer just shows them as one. They can't be assigned a drive letter either.

Some MP3 players are switching between MTP and USB Mass Storage. In the latter, everything including CoolPlayer can play your files. In the former, only specialized software that can read MTP can play.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
