Remove line "-=%SystemDrive%\N++RECOV" in file "..\Notepad++Portable\App\AppInfo\Launcher\Notepad++Portable.ini".
That doesn't control creation of the file. That controls cleaning it up. The file is created by Notepad++ itself but cleaned up by our launcher.

because of my test, I think your are wrong.
With this entry, directory N++RECOV is created during startup and is deleted again during closing.
Without this entry, directory N++RECOV is never created.
Please make a test, too. If this behavior is unexpected, mayby the Launcher has an error?
It is created by the launcher by design. You can prevent the launcher creating it by removing that line. But if you do so, if/when Notepad++ crashes, it will create and leave that folder behind including personal information contained in any documents you have open.

This I have found in changelog of Notepad++ version 5.1.3: Change the N++ recovery directory from c:\N++RECOV to %temp%\N++RECOV.

Can you please add the change "from c:\N++RECOV to %temp%\N++RECOV" to Notepad++ PortableApps version? I added it but every time this app is updated it loses this configuration.

Is there a reason that text hasn't been changed in the portableapps version? I'm still getting that folder on the C drive in the most recent version, and if it resets every time there's an update I don't want to bother with editing it myself every time.
My temp files aren't even stored in that folder. It seems to create it for no good reason.
This is fixed in today's release of Notepad++ Portable 7.8.5 Rev 2

Thanks a lot John! I can confirm the fix worked. Folder no longer gets created on the C: Drive.
