I have downloaded the LO Portable App twice, and installed on a flashdrive with room to spare. Three times the installation has failed - twice on a green exclamation.png and once on an italian file (even though I cancelled exra languages.) So it just stops.
The down load was through FireFox might this be the problem?
What can I do?

It installs and then removes extra languages due to limitations in the installer and the complexity of where languages are stored in LO (not just a single directory for each language like other apps). So, you need enough space for the full install, not just the install with the extra languages removed. The installer should prevent you from installing at all if you don't have enough space.
It's also important to note that you can't install LO into too deep a directory. It should only be installed to X:\PortableApps\LibreOffice, not in X:\PathTo\MyApps\PortApps\PortableApps\LibreOffice as you'll wind up with a path too long for the file system to support.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
