The early bird catches the worm? Not this time: I upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X Mavericks just when it was released last night and since then Portable Thunderbird stopped working. It just hangs after being launched. Any other users affected by that? And more importantly: any idea how to solve the problem?
The same occured with me!
It was working until I reboot Mavericks.
I can't start even in safe mode.
What can I we do about that?
Thanks!
Almir
I'm having the same issue, however I opted to see how long it would hang and I've found that after 15-30 minutes, it stops hanging and the system asks me for permission for Portable Thunderbird to access my contacts. After I "OK" that, it works just fine.
But, yes, problematic as it does this every time I launch PT (which is usually just once in the morning but occasionally I have to restart or what not so it's a hassle).
And, I do have the security settings in Mavericks to allow ANY app.
I hope this bit of info helps, and I hope a fix comes soon!
Which variant of Wine are you running under Mac OS X? Just to clarify, you are using Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition from here and not some portable Mac app right? (We don't do Mac apps)
As for Mavericks, it apparently breaks more than usual and the consensus is to hold off on upgrading until the bugs are fixed. There's nothing really compelling in it unless you really need the multi-monitor issues in Mac OS X fixed.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
