Eclipse Portable 4.3.1 Dev Test 1

Application: Eclipse
Category: Development
Description: From the publisher's website:
Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an extensible development platform, runtimes and application frameworks for building, deploying and managing software across the entire software lifecycle. Many people know us, and hopefully love us, as a Java IDE but Eclipse is much more than a Java IDE.

The Eclipse open source community has over 200 open source projects. These projects can be conceptually organized into seven different "pillars" or categories:

  1. Enterprise Development
  2. Embedded and Device Development
  3. Rich Client Platform
  4. Rich Internet Applications
  5. Application Frameworks
  6. Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  7. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  8. The Eclipse community is also supported by a large and vibrant ecosystem of major IT solution providers, innovative start-ups, universities and research institutions and individuals that extend, support and complement the Eclipse Platform.

One very exciting thing about Eclipse is that many people are using Eclipse in ways that we have never imagined. The common thread is that they are building innovative, industrial-strength software and want to use great tools, frameworks and runtimes to make their job easier.

Package download removed for the time being.

Note: This package relies on OpenJDK Portable or a local JDK installation to function correctly. Because the JRE included in OpenJDK Portable is out of date, you can also use jPortable or a local Java installation for full functionality.

Note: This is not affiliated with, nor based on, gluxon's builds. By default, upgrades and reinstallations will preserve App\eclipse, so if a fresh install is wanted, then that folder should be deleted beforehand.

Optional: If you want to use other applications with Eclipse, you can add them to the ADDONS environment variable in the launcher. For example, you can add MSYSPortable by writing:

[Environment]
ADDONS=%PAL:PortableAppsDir:ForwardSlash%/MSYSPortable

I realize that this is not based on my work, but it would have been courteous to talk to me before posting this. This kind of complicates official release with 2 versions. I do not mean to sound rude, but my builds having gone through more extensive testing.

This was my personal tiding over your releases. I'll take it down if you want.

You worked on this. It's your project. I don't have the right to tell you to take it down. I'm just saying it might have worked out better to work with me on it instead.

Cheer up. Smile

Okay

I know it's not a right, but you had the original project. I made this just for myself originally but I saw a bunch of people asking for a Kepler release so I figured "why not". For the time being, I'll keep the download link down but people can find it on the Sourceforge page if they want to.

Unfortunately no

I do not plan on releasing any other builds than this base version. I would say wait for gluxon to release his builds of 4.3. This was more of a personal test than anything.
