I know this subject has been run to death. And I also understand John's stance and I agree with closing apps before ejecting the usb stick. I generally do this, but on occasion something gets left open when I click on the eject utility on the PA menu.
One of the problems I see is that when an app is left open the PA menu will still close. What if the PA menu didn't close if an app was still open? Is that possible, or would that be a major re-write of code? In my research I didn't see this exact suggestion. I'm not a programmer, but it seems to me that this approach would be easier to accomplish.
Just thinking, not trying to step on any toes. I think we all need to be open to suggestions that might make PA better.

The platform's ability to close apps as your close it (but only those on within your PortableApps directory and in the proper order) is already coming in the next release. I spoke with this author about using a proper open source license for his code and he agreed. The strings for handling the UI translations have been within the locale directory for a while as this has been in the works for a while.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the reply. I should have known you were already working on it. I was just thinking out loud, as many of us do. Your solution sounds more involved, but more of a complete solution.
