It would be really great if you made a program could password protect a USB flash drive. In other words, you would have to type in a password before being able to access any of the data on it.

You shouldn't suggest TC without explaining that it's not completely portable.
Vintage!

It would be really nice to have the password protection built into the suite, like it is in U3.
Thanks,
Adam
U3 disallows access to the drive by faking itself as a CD drive.
This is done in the hardware, not the software.

This may be a really dumb idea, I'm not sure, but would it be possible to replace the U3 launchpad with the Portable Apps Suite on a U3 drive? I'm currently using a U3 drive with the portable Apps menu; I like the wider range of applications on Portable Apps, but also the security of U3.
Thx,
Adam

you would lose the password protection aspect then.
There is a tool floating around the forums to add non-U3 programs to the launchpad. Use that to add StartPortableApps.exe and then set it to run on insertion.
I'd give better details, but I left my drive with my teacher over the weekend.

Thanks, I found it on the "Converting Portable apps to run in the U3 launcher" thread. Works like a charm... :D. Here's the link for the program from computechx http://hypyke.home.comcast.net/U3Shortcut.zip
Thanks,
