[12b2] Update Began to Fail Again

John, we went through a detailed issue with updating a while back and together discovered that issues with the liveupdate package is causing some unexpected results, but eventually using AUTOMATIC mode and some other tweaks, we got things on track for now.

However, today out of the blue it started acting wonky again. Yeah I know, not the most technical description but you know what I mean. Here is the details as I know them.

1) Manually clicking update or automatic update on startup (with bitch on errors enabled) will kick up this error (see screenshot) http://pa.myguardian.net/pa_sre.png

2) My internet connection is fine, I have tested it. Any and all apps run fine. So its not my access to the internet.

3) I have restarted the system and the platform NUMEROUS times but nothing changes, any idea what the heck started to happen?

This started out of the blue this morning, what gives?

Could it be the servers?

Could the severs be down and this error is just so generic that it doesn't identify that? Can you give me the server addresses/domains/ranges and I can try to network tool them to see if its that or not.

Automatic

Correct, the beta platform only works in automatic at the moment. If not, I think it showed as a URL Parts error, if I recall.

It isn't the servers. Both this website and the text file of the database that's downloaded are served from the same box, same Apache instance. There's no mirroring or CDN of it. And I just pulled up the app list in my PA.c install here.

A SendRequest error usually means the connection can't get through at all. This is often due to a firewall block, either personal software or via a corporate/university firewall.

Did you try a fresh install just temporarily to your Desktop with no options changes at all to check if it's your PC/network or just the current install/configuration? I'd try that first to figure out which it is. Then we can troubleshoot from there.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Nothing has changed for me...

Correct been using Automatic since, no issues.
Nothing has changed on my end, the connections are there, the settings are the same, everything is literally the same except for a few updates that applied a few days back. Sudden stops like this are usually external, that's why I was wondering on the server uptimes.

Resolved it...

Maybe a bug with the live update client's automatic protocol or something else but for now I figured out what's going on and resolved it.

I ran a trace and PA updater was trying to communicate with 127.0.0.1:9005 which makes NO SENSE. So ran a trap and route to 0.0.0.0 which is the ultimate route mapped to my external IP and it worked, got an update for FX and another downloading right now.

No idea why its doing that but for now, resolved.
