javaws or even the complete Java Runtime Environment.
What are your opinions about this?

This has been discussed before - try searching. Basically, Java was closed source till very recently (might not have even happened yet) so things will really take off once that happens I guess... There are a few alternatives, I've not tried - try searching!

I tried to search but have not found anything else. I think this would be extremely useful and would also be willing to experiment a bit. Anyone else interested?
