I was told about this app that's like minecraft but a free player, and I was interested. I'd play this one, but I share my computer so I'm not allowed to get it unless I find out if it's portable. It's freeware so it's possibly portable so I thought it was worth checking...

According to the site you linked to, MinecraftSP is a cracked version of Minecraft and therefore is probably illegal according to the terms and conditions of Minecraft. Stick to the regular version as it supports Mojang and there are already portable launchers available on this site.
