I would like to see an option in the forums to "Mark All Forums Read" And "Mark All Posts Read" for each forum.
This would make finding new posts a lot easier with out having to go through and read every post to clear the "new" flag.

An option to receive an email if a particular forum or post is updated would be nice as well.

that would require hacking Drupal, the CMS this site runs on.
This has been mentioned before. If you really want it fixed, try the Drupal forums.
