DamnVid problems, need advice

Since the other threads regarding DamnVid are a few years old, I thought it only prudent to start a new thread in the hope that there have been more developments in troubleshooting problems with this program.

At present I am trying to run DamnVid on a Windows 8 PC. Now similarly to other users, I thought an update to the Youtube module would correct any problems, but it hasn't. DamnVid will go through the motion of downloading a video, but the process will be suspiciously quick and give me a conversion failed notice at the end. The profile I'm using is one of DamnVid's defaults, the audio (MP3) profile and I have also reset all program settings back to their defaults via preferences.

Oddly the program worked perfectly with the first 5 videos I downloaded. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on any new issues that could affect the performance of this program. Are there compatibility issues with Windows 8?
