I downloaded the portable Netbeans from PortableApps.com then ran the JDK installation, pointing it to install to the JDK folder in NetBeans Portable > App > jdk. Do I need to change the config files or something?
Also, is it truly portable or will I need some of Java pre-installed in another computer for me to use this portable Netbeans on it?
I'm not really sure what the difference is between Java, JDK, and JRE. Should I just stick with installing Java on all the computers that I want to use portable Netbeans on? Kind of defeats the purpose of a "portable Netbeans." Why wouldn't someone want Java installed on their computer if it seems like there are many programs out there that require it?
Thank you.

I read that vulnerabilities of Java is associated with plugins used by web browser. Does that mean installing JDK locally is fine as long as I have the Java plugin disabled on all web browsers?
