Should be possible

Associating filetypes with AppNamePortable.exe will generally create the behaviour you would expect with a normal association.

There may be specific circumstances where it may not work, or may not work exactly as intended, but it works for the ones I have tried it with (Inkscape, Dia, and a couple of others I can't remember off the top of my head).

i ask about it cause i use

i ask about it cause i use portable apps for my hdd not pen drive

i have 2 HDDs and im using only 1 at a time
i have all apps in C:\Programs\Portable Apps Platform\PortableApps

and so whenever something will start causing trouble on my windows i just take 2nd hdd and install on it windows than i plug it 1st hdd as slave and copy that C:\Programs folder to 2nd hdd on which i just installed windows

this way it never change path and i repeat the process each time something is happening to my windows (something i dont want and im too lazy to fix)

and so my question about libre and open office associating files is about will it work even after the application is installed/extracted in my case just copied to other disk with same path

will the association happen if i launch the program on new windows cause as i remember libre and open office do not have option "associate with files" and it only happens when 1 of them is being installed

well i do not mean libre or open office cause i already found way around to do so but they are fine example i got few programs which i would like to make portable in that kind of way
