Their newest release I have it installed on the local version Firefox at home, but it won't install on Portable Firefox. I got version 1.2.1 from a attachment in another thread, but can't DL the xpi file from yahoo so I can install it to the portable.
Download it directly from Yahoo. Right-click that, save it locally, then do a File - Open from Firefox.
I still can't believe that Yahoo's install setup is so poor.

Thanks I got it now! Installed and restarted, looking good. Yes "Yahoo" is good in some ways but not in others.
Despise Yahoo and their toolbar ESPECIALLY.
It loads it as an extension and doesn't seem to allow the option of saving it locally. Moreover, I have searched for the filename unsuccessfully in the Mozilla directory and the entire C drive. I wonder if someone could walk me through how to save it locally or at least find where it is located so that I can copy it.
Thanks,

It's pretty basic.
1. *Right*-click on that link to the XPI and save it to your desktop
2. Click File - Open in Firefox and open it up (which will prompt you to install the extension)
If you're unfamiliar with saving and opening files, then you may wish to ask a techie friend to assist you.

I tried to right click on the wrong link -- Duh! -- the one on the Yahoo page, which didn't work. I have it now. Many thanks for the super quick help, John.
and I came to this conclusion: Why bother? Firefox includes a Yahoo! search bar in the browser, and by using the Firefox bookmark toolbar, you can duplicate anything the Yahoo! toolbar does except-maybe-signing in. You can also add other non-Yahoo sites to it, and build a folder hierarchy, just like with Yahoo!. Throw in the Foxmarks for synchronization or web access, and I'm not sure why I care anymore about the Yahoo toolbar...other than it will take a while to set up. That's fine...I need to clean my bookmarks out anyway!
