webmail with TB 1.5.08

Hi, sorry if this question has been posted previously, been checked with 6 screens and not there, so:
trying to set up TB latest version (haven't used it before) with webmail.
when i try to do this, get error message back:
"Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server localhost responded: undefined is a unsupported domain"

this is obviously a setup problem, but there's no guidelines to follow as to how to set it up. not using it on local network, just wish to use it with yahoo, gmail, mail.com and hotmail.

Tips anyone, please?

Webmail Extension

As indicated on the support page (which you should check before searching), you have to use the webmail extension as webmail providers don't provide "real" email. They use their own types of servers which folks have to reverse engineer to get them to work with a real email client. See here:
https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#webmail

For info on setting this up, see the webmail extension site and any support forums they have as that's where you should head for help. I don't use this extension at all, so I can't offer any assistance in setting it up.

correction

Yahoo and gmail both allow use of an e-mail client. gmail you need to set it up on the web and yahoo you need to upgrade which costs money. I don't know about the other companies, you can search their site, most will but might make you pay.

webmaiil for TB

Thanks, cavedeamon, looks like I won't be using TB after all -- won't pay for upgrade to yahoo -- If I did why wouldn't I just get private email completely, (bit cheaper in NZ just to get a site hosted, with email provided, especially compared to US rates converted to NZ dollars). But might check out gmail, have to find the right page.

webmail with TBP 1.5

Sorry for the confusion guys, TBP works with both Gmail and yahoo as per the online instructions from those webmail services, no questions asked, although yahoo requires you to be registered with "yahoo delivers", advertising? but no cost.

But REMEMBER not only do you have to check the right boxes to make sure mail is left on the yahoo or gmail servers, but that the sub-boxes, "ntil I delete or move them from the "inbox"" are UNchecked -- deleting them from your TBP inbox will also delete them from the yahoo/gmail servers unless the sub-boxes are UNchecked.
Ask me! I've just deleted over 100Mb of wanted "historical" emails from my yahoo folders!! to try to save space on my flash disk!!! It seems it automatically tries to download/copy across everything kept on those servers -- not a good situation Sad

Cheers,
Rusty
