Firefox Portable 2.0 saved forms does not function

Firefox Portable 2.0 saved forms feature does not function when Firefox is run from the (root)\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable folder on a thumbdrive. Existing saved forms do not populate in fields. No new forms can be saved. Firefox won't even ask for the Master Password. I had to move and run it from (root)\Program Files\FirefoxPortable folder for it to function.

Disabled by default

It's disabled by default to save space and writes to the drive. You can enable it within Tools - Options.

Checked options and they're still enabled

I just simply cut and paste between the folders. When it's run from (root)\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\FirefoxPortable.exe form saves doesn't function. Then I move the folder to Program Files and run Firefox from (root)\Program Files\FirefoxPortable\FirefoxPortable.exe and it functions correctly. I move it back to (root)\PortableApps it stops working and no Options are changing automatically. So, when it's under \PortableApps\ it doesn't work and when it's under \Program Files\ it does work.

BTW, initial install process was clean install of: PortableApps Suite (Base Edition) then Firefox Portable 2.0

Hmmm

Are you launching from the menu in both cases or directly?

I've launched directly and

I've launched directly and from the PortableApps menu when installed to \PortableApps\ with the same ill results. When installed to \Program Files\ it works correctly when launched directly and when launched from PStart.

Extensions?

That doesn't make any sense logically, considering the way it's set up.

Just to confirm:
1. You have this issue when you run FirefoxPortable.exe by running it directly from Explorer when running within X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable
2. You have this issue when you run Firefox Portable from the PortableApps menu when running within X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable
3. You do not have this issue if you copy the FirefoxPortable directory locally to Program Files directory and then run FirefoxPortable.exe
4. At no time are you running firefox.exe directly.
5. If you copy JUST the FirefoxPortable directory to your local machine (say your desktop) and run FirefoxPortable.exe, does it work?
6. Do you have any questions that may be causing issues?

It doesn't make sense... but now check this out!

I moved it from (thumbdrive)\PortableApps :not working. Then to (thumbdrive)\Program Files\ :working. Then to (local machine)\Desktop :working. Then back to (thumbdrive)\PortableApps : and WTF... now it's working!!! Both directly and from the menu. I am going to reboot now and let you know if it still works.

I think I know

I think I know what it may have been. Firefox.exe in the 2.0 release doesn't always shut down correctly. This is due to bugs within the anti-phishing filter. If it doesn't shutdown, FFP may not shutdown correctly. Or, may not start up correctly. So, there's a possibility of some files within the profile being left in an odd state. This could result in the behavior you're seeing. Try a reboot and start it all up. When closing, be sure firefox.exe shuts down (check Task Manager). And then move it around.

Also, as stated in the support section, whenever you copy a profile in, you MUST delete an additional file, otherwise FFP can't portablize it correctly. Actually, come to think of it, this is probably EXACTLY what your issue was.

All is well

The problem is gone. While rebooting my laptop, I plugged into 2 other PCs and form save functionality was back in full swing. Then plugged into my laptop and it worked there, too! Thanks for your help; I'm off to read your support section.
