FasterFox not recommended

FasterFox has never been recommended for any install of Firefox due to its abusive bandwidth setups. I have the disabling codes in my robots.txt on all sites and am planning on adding an Apache module to auto-ban people using hacked/old versions of FasterFox that ignore the "stop abusing my server" lines in robots.txt.

That said, it shouldn't totally bork your setup. You'll have to start Firefox Portable in safe mode (run FirefoxPortable.exe -safe-mode from a commandline) and see what you get. If it comes up, you have a misbehaving extension. The problem is finding out which one.

You could also delete your extensions.rdf file and a few other things. Backup your profile first. Search the web for info on rebuilding your FF profile.

Please be sure to fully shutdown Firefox before ejecting your drive. Firefox.exe may remain running after you close all windows due to bugs in Firefox2 (it happens on the local version, too)... mainly an issue with the antiphishing filter. If you pull a drive while firefox.exe is running, it's the equivalent of Firefox crashing badly... and it can corrupt your profile.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I realise it could heart

I realise it could hurt server bandwidth, I set it just below mid-range, I just need the boost because I have dial-up at home. If I did it right, the same thing is happening in safe mode

Actually, Fasterfox is quite

Actually, Fasterfox is quite useless with dialup. You're likely reaching your max speed, and Firefox is designed to optimize the connection.

Vintage!
