I have 3 different computers and I have been using Dropbox for years to keep synched all my documents. Lately I have installed my Portable apps inside Dropbox too, so that I do not need an USB drive to have an identical system on all 3 computers.
I would love to use Dropbox portable to mirror this solution even to an USB drive, but there is not an offical Dropbox portable application.
I see there is an unofficial version of it: does anyone recommend it?
I guess Carbide would be the only option to safely carry my Dropbox on usb around?

Unfortunately, this is not possible as Dropbox encrypts their configuration files. There is Portable DropboxAHK, but right now the site is not working and they are having issues with it too.
When Dropbox patched to fix their vulnerability to the Heartbleed exploit, they changed the way Dropbox communicates with the server. Currently, even the portable version there is broken. The author of Portable DropboxAHK contacted Dropbox for help, but they responded saying they would not help.
I don't believe I know of any working portable solutions for Dropbox at this time. I also doubt it would be likely, as the folks at Dropbox have no interest in this. Sorry.
P.S. On a side note, I've used Portable DropboxAHK for years. It allowed my to access all 3 of my Dropbox accounts. But it's been broken since Heartbleed, unless the author over there can figure out a workaround.

There is a storage service with portable desktop application.
it seems this is more like documents and file management tool like evernote or gmail.
