Is there a reason the zip downloads were removed from the app pages? Were they little used, and deemed unnecessary? I liked them.

They're pointless, considering that the 7z sfx archives had better compression, and didn't require additional software. Saves bandwidth.

It takes me an hour just to upload OpenOffice.org Portable as an EXE. The Zips are about 1.5 to 2x the size of the EXE. So that immediately triples the amount of time to upload apps.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
When I upload something big to anywhere, I always leave my computer on at night and do it then.

my problem with exe is that, if I dowmload the progs at my workplace, but I'm not able download the exe files, because of the proxy setting.
so zip would be better for me too.
