As TrueCrypt stopped development and it's not open source. I think Rose Crypt is really needed.
"From the TrueCrypt website:

This page exists only to help migrate existing data encrypted by TrueCrypt.
The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014 after Microsoft terminated support of Windows XP. Windows 8/7/Vista and later offer integrated support for encrypted disks and virtual disk images. Such integrated support is also available on other platforms (click here for more information). You should migrate any data encrypted by TrueCrypt to encrypted disks or virtual disk images supported on your platform.

Please make Rose Crypt available portably for USB sticks. You can also get the source code (GPLv3): http://sourceforge.net/projects/rosecrypt/files/Rose%20Crypt1.1/Rose%20C...
You can get the .EXE here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rosecrypt/files/Rose%20Crypt1.1/RoseCryp...
Project "TrueCrypt" is open source and it is not dead.
Look here:
https://securityinabox.org/en/guide/truecrypt/windows
Development has ceased on TrueCrypt, ergo it is dead. It even says so that page:
It's worth pointing out that TrueCrypt development has ended and no one else can legally use the name, so TrueCrypt is dead.
It's also worth noting that while TrueCrypt's source is available, it is not available under an OSI-approved license like BSD, MIT, GPL, MPL, etc. It's a proprietary license that doesn't seem to permit use of the source in other projects. So, any TrueCrypt derivatives are of questionable legality.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I would rather call it abadonware or so.
To call something bad and insecure just because it is no work in progress done just now on it , well this is little strange to me.
If something is developed and thus finished, why to develop further.
AFAIK major reasons for giving up the project was that it became more and more difficult to make reasonable and functioning whole disk encryption and similar parts of the project so all would remain compatible with the current development in hardware and operating systems (UEFI, Windows 8, 10 etc)
To use just the container part, well this is not better or worse as it used to be for long time.
It was never clear who in fact was producing this Truecrypt software, so plain trust was always not easy, but well it seems to work for standard use, no simple attacks I have heard about so far, so why not go and use it.
If it works, why to develop it further?
