Yesterday the Firefox Hotfix got downloaded and installed into my firefox portable.
Normal the installer is incompatible with firefox 30.
With an normal firefox 30 the addon is incompatible.
As i thought it will be a bug in the hotfix i created a bug on bugzilla of mozilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1042099
They closed the bug, as the hotfix works correctly and the bug must be in the portable version, that the hotfix doesn't recognize that it is incompatible.
Could someone please recheck the behavior and try to get a fix for this error - or could the developer directly talk to mozilla (using this bug) to get a solution.
Normaly all Firefox Portable Versions with Updates enabled should be affected.
That's a Firefox bug. The copy of Firefox within Firefox Portable is a completely unaltered copy of Firefox. It sounds like they didn't analyze what was wrong and didn't want to accept a bug triggered within Firefox with a -profile switch in use (which is what Firefox Portable uses). They should either (1) point out and publish that Firefox's updater doesn't work unless Firefox is installed / won't work with the -profile switch, in which case the switch should be retired, (2) fix this bug, or (3) treat hotfixes as an independent update with an option to disable installing them and only supporting a full-version update. I posted details within the bug. Though, I don't think it will be re-opened since it was closed without much discussion or research.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Firefox will build a next version of the hotfix.
Now we need to get them, that they doesn't touch the portable firefox or that the installer redirect the users to the pf-webpage to get the new Update from here - or even better, that they download the pf and use the pf installer to update pf-users
