After closing of the PA.com menu, I get the following error message:
Here the translation of the content of this message:
The following portable applications are still being used:
Mozilla Firefox
Please close all portable applications and try again.
However, the Firefox browser is closed on my PC.
That means you've closed the PA.c Platform while one of your apps (Firefox) is still running and have the platform set to automatically close your apps and warn you about the ones that are still running. The feature is there to ensure all your apps close safely before shutting down your PC or ejecting your drive. If you prefer not to use the feature, you can disable it in options.

Your assumption, that one of my apps is still running (here the Firefox app) is false, because I've closed the Firefox browser firstly and only afterwards I closed the PA. com menu.
Did you check Task Manager?
Just because the visible window has closed does not always mean an application's background tasks have finished.
I have already thought about the possibility, that an application's background tasks have not finished. Especially I've searched in the Task Manager after an appropriate task in conjunction with Firefox. But I didn't detected such a task in the Task Manager.
Could be that the following occurred:
The only way to be sure is to watch Task Manager while the process is happening.
It's not an assumption as I know how the code works. The only way that message can be displayed is if either firefox.exe or FirefoxPortable.exe is running within the PortableApps directory at the moment the menu tries to close. It can, of course, be in the process of closing when you run it and closed by the time Task Manager is pulled up and not show up. But, one of them is absolutely running when you try to close the platform. Firefox can take a few seconds longer than you expect to close after you close its window.

AFAICT
the only way the Platform could possibly tell you that an app is still running when it's not is if Windows itself is malfunctioning. If you can reliably reproduce this issue, restart your computer and then try it again.
