Just wondering if anyone knows of a good open source equivalent to the Microsoft Project series? Getting involved a bit more at work with project management and would like to have a freebie that I can look at making portable for taking both to and from work.
Any suggestions on such programs is greatly appreciated. Although I want to avoid java or online programs. Firstly because java needs to be installed on the host and secondly not everyone will want to be connected to use the program.
Many thanks,
tanisthalon
I think there is one... not sure of the name though - I think it was mentioned on here a few weeks ago....
Sorry to be so useless!
Google for "Microsoft Project Alternative" and you'll see the first one is an open-source program called Open Workbench. Then if you search here, you'll see this.

Teen2: Are you being sarcastic, dude?
Teen1: I don't even know anymore.

Open Workbench is too restrictive to do anything with. Their license is just stupid.

Try searching here for "Gantt Project" I mostly use it for viewing MSProject files on client machines.
I have a version of MSProject on my laptop which I use for creating/editing.
Unfortunately Gantt is a java application according to what I have read.

The site's META description is: Graphical Java program for editing Gantt charts. GPL.
It's not all that bad working with Java based apps anyway. I did RSSOwl Portable which is Java based.
