Install Flash Plugin Manually in Firefox

I use Firefox Portable at work but unfortunately don't have the necessary admin rights to update flash. Unfortunately new versions of Firefox don't seem to include the most up to date version by default.

Is there anyway of updating flash manually?

copy from installed

so far the only way is copy the relevant files (dll) from other installation.

You can use the search function in the forum here, this will give you number of different instruction how and where from to copy the files needed.

You may find the files under windows/system32/macromed/flash

Thanks for your reply. I

Thanks for your reply. I should have done a more extensive search. My understanding is that I can copy the plugin files from a locally installed copy of firefox (eg on a home computer) and move them over to the Portable plugin folder. Will see if that works.

yes this way

however there were issues with some versions of flash, some of them did freeze when used portably etc. The behavior seems to change often and is not running portable reliably.

No luck.

It was worth a try but not having any joy with this, thanks for your help anyway.

Using Firefox Portable without Admin rights doesn't seem to be a viable option at the moment. Haven't used Maxthon in years so will give that a go.

chrome

the only browser having some kind of flash support by itself is chrome.
You can try chrome portable, however this is very much depending on the local system.

Firefox portable does not need any admin rights, it works on itself.
Simply copy the flash files to data/plugin (you need the flash for Firefox not the one for IE!) and it should work.

I can easily tell you how

I can easily tell you how when I'm back at a windows machine and reading from cherry tree. If I notice a reply to this tomorrow at school I will not only tell you where to get them but give you a link to a zip with my own portable installed files of the newest version
