I use many portable App from https://portableapps.com/ and i don't have so much problem !
Since i used Chrome Version 40.0.2214.115 for Windows, Multilingual Portable, 2 times i already lost my settings with this result : http://cdn.techdows.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Chrome-automatic-sett...
The 1st time i think it was a mistake of me, then i set again manualy chrome, and extentions and i saved each step of the config in a solid zip file to prevent again this problem :
00-ChromeBase.zip
01-ChromeConfig.zip
02-ChromeConfig-Extentions.zip
03-ChromeConfig-ExtentionsConfig.zip
Today again i lost all my settings without reasons !
Then i extract my saved config, each config worked fine a couple of days, but now ... now more !
How is that possible ?
Only one way : this ChromePortable version corrupt the files a launch after a couple of days working !
Can u help me !
I never got this problem with all my last ChromePortable version from this site and i'm tired to configure all everytime ! 1 our 2 hour in my case !!!

You must login to google for it to work right. This is stated in the license as you install and on the app's homepage. This is by design of the publisher and not something we can change. You will also be unable to backup and restore settings or move settings between computers. Extensions, extension settings, homepage and search are now locked down by design.

It's mean if i refuse to sign-in now i will always loose my extentions and my Chrome settings?
Because until now with the portable Version 39.0.2171.95 and 36.0.1985.125 i never got this probem!

Are u sure, do u ve a link? cause i can't find where, because anyway the error message not mention this : 'Chrome detected that some of your browser settings were changed by another program and reset them to their original defaults.', but it's not possible cause i just reinstall my system, and nothing is installed on it!

Ok, i can't get the point with the first link, but i got the point with the second link + https://portableapps.com/node/42637
In my case it's strange cause the article date to 28 September 2014 but i never got this problem before with chrome portable v39. And about the v40 i use always it with the same machine and the same system, it's mean with the same config!
Anyway, now i need to try chromium just i hope i can install the same extentions on him
If you want to use Chrome and any features beyond just bookmarks, you have to sign into Google. Otherwise, you'll lose your extensions, extension settings, search engine settings, homepage, etc every single time you move PCs, every time you try to restore a backup to a new PC, and every time any software makes even a single character change to your Chrome settings file. Google itself purposely designed it this way. There is no workaround.
You must either sign into Google or switch to a genuinely portable independent browser like Firefox which has none of these issues.
